From The Director’s Desk

We enjoy each new season at the Kansas City House of Hope, and in the Fall of 2008 we celebrated the first anniversary of being in our new home.  I am amazed how much has been accomplished and how many young people’s lives have been touched.  Through prayer, counseling, education, and working through individual challenges with the girls that the Lord brings to us, we see growth at every turn.  The girls are finding out how unique and special they are as they leave the past behind and push forward to being reunited with their families.

The house is full of activity all day long.  The girls help keep the house in excellent condition, attend school each weekday, serve the community, and stay active playing tennis, jogging or working out in our exercise room.  We have been able to take advantage of several youth conferences and are learning new life skills.  Almost daily a new situation arises that exemplifies the changes that both the girls and their families are making.

We are blessed beyond measure and grateful to God for all He has allowed us to witness in the lives of the girls here at House of Hope.  We are encouraged and thankful too for all those who support us financially and with the gift of their time.  Volunteers are always needed to to do data entry, answer the phone or do work projects around the house.  Please look at the links to consider how you, your family, friends, small group, and/or church can volunteer or donate to such an outstanding ministry.

In God’s Grace,  Marilyn Thomas

Mission

Our mission at Kansas City House of Hope is to provide a comprehensive treatment program for hurting teens, with the ultimate goal of family unit restoration.  Through our residential program, teens will experience the transforming power of love through non-denominational Christian counseling and education.  Hurting teens will learn the power to overcome negative influences and become functioning and contributing members of society.

History

Kansas City House of Hope was founded by Marilyn Thomas in 2005 by providing outpatient counseling to the Kansas City community.  In the fall of 2007, Kansas City House of Hope expanded its program by acquiring property and launching its comprehensive, residential services to hurting teenage girls and their families.   Kansas City House of Hope is an affiliate of National House, which is located in Orlando, Florida and has been operating for over 25 years with 50 residential teens.
