Thank-you to all who were able to join Ms. Marilyn, House of Hope staff, and the girls for tea and a tour in December. We enjoyed seeing so many neighbors, friends, and those who came to learn more about House of Hope.  We were glad to show you our home, and treat you to homemade cookies and Christmas tea.

From The Director’s Desk

In this season of Thanksgiving, we have so many reasons to give thanks.

At the end of our second year of operation, we have reached more than 150 families.  According to a popular statistic, one person influences 100 others, meaning: Kansas City House of  Hope has had an impact on over fifteen thousand lives.

Additionally, we have built a broad base of volunteer support that includes individual students, service groups, churches, schools, and colleges.   This year, we set a record for fundraising at the Fourth Annual Stars and Spurs Banquet and Auction.

More importantly, our arms and doors are open and we are serving the community, and healing homes one family at a time.  The teens we see in counseling struggle with peer pressure, bullying, anger, drugs, promiscuity, depression, self-mutilation and rebellion.  Through House of Hope we offer teens a safe haven where they can begin to turn their lives around, and we give their parents the tools and support they need to strengthen relationships with their children.

As one 15-year-old resident stated, “I came to House of Hope hating myself and my parents, and now I can’t wait to go home and have a new family relationship that works!”

In God’s Continuing Grace, Marilyn Thomas

Mission

Our mission at Kansas City House of Hope is to provide a comprehensive treatment program for hurting teens, with the ultimate goal of family unit restoration.  Through our residential program, teens will experience the transforming power of love through non-denominational Christian counseling and education.  Hurting teens will learn the power to overcome negative influences and become functioning and contributing members of society.

History

Kansas City House of Hope was founded by Marilyn Thomas in 2005 by providing outpatient counseling to the Kansas City community.  In the fall of 2007, Kansas City House of Hope expanded its program by acquiring property and launching its comprehensive, residential services to hurting teenage girls and their families.   Kansas City House of Hope is an affiliate of National House, which is located in Orlando, Florida and has been operating for over 25 years with 50 residential teens.
